Hi Jeanne

I believe this is really a topic that is getting more and more interesting to discuss. Myslef have been a Project Manager for a number och deliveries within the Telco business (Ericsson) in primarily South East Asia such as Thailand, Singapore and India. Also in my current position as PM for Netadmin Systems ( Network mgmt Software) in deliveries mainly in the Nordic countries and in Europe as well.

I think that one of the most valuable capacities a PM should have is the ability to adjust his/hers PM skills depending on where the members in a project come from.
My own experience from manage projects from a distance (Sweden to Thailand) is that the number one key sucess factor is communication! If you are not able to communicate your directives, messages etc in a way that is both understood and accepted by the other part you will run into problems almost right away.
What is taken for granted in my culture could be totally out of reach so to speak in another and vice versa of course.

However I belive that a mix of experience in how to adjust according to who you working with along with your own way of driving a project is the best way getting things into place hopefully in time. Looking fwd to have discussions in here.

Best Regards
//Richard
