PMOs are many things to many organisations; sometimes organisations have dedicated PMOs that are created to support specific programs, and are closed upon the completion of the program or sometime after (eg. when the identified benefits have been realised).

PMOs are also designed to support portfolios and provide guidance and reporting to C-level management and directors and MDs of enterprise divisions.

How are business leaders persuaded that a PMO helps guide decision-making by monitoring and reporting project, program and protfolio activity & progress?

How are the benefits of investing in people, process (continuous improvement, best practice) sold to senior management to make them understand the commercial value of a PMO?

What does it take to convince senior management that review and renewal of the PMO and its resources are necessary to help support the changing dimensions of corporate or business unit strategic objectives?

All input welcomed and all sharing encouraged.

Hello. I'm a fairly new project manager with only a few years of experience. I am joining this network to learn and at the same time share what I know.
